Who This Is For

FeeProbe is built for freelancers invoicing clients overseas, small businesses accepting card payments in-store or online, and SaaS sellers who need to price subscriptions with processor costs already factored in. If you've ever wondered "how much do I actually keep after fees?" or "what should I charge so I net exactly $500?" — this tool answers both.

How the Fee Math Works

Every payment processor fee follows the same two-part formula:

fee = amount × percent_fee + fixed_fee

For example, Stripe US charges 2.9% + $0.30 per domestic card transaction. On a $100 payment that's $2.90 + $0.30 = $3.20 in fees, leaving you $96.80. The reverse calculator works backwards — enter the amount you want to receive and get the exact invoice figure to charge your client.

Where the Rates Come From

Stripe and PayPal fee schedules are sourced directly from each processor's official public pricing page. Wise uses a dynamic pricing model — rates shown are reference estimates based on typical bank transfer amounts; always confirm with Wise's calculator before sending. All data files carry a last verified date so you know how fresh the numbers are.

Payment Processors at a Glance

Stripe

The developer-friendly standard for online payments. Stripe charges 2.9% + $0.30 per domestic card transaction with no monthly fees or setup costs. For large invoices, ACH direct debit drops to just 0.8% (capped at $5). International cards cost 4.4–5.4% + $0.30 depending on currency conversion. Best for SaaS companies, online stores, and developer-led businesses that want clean APIs and extensive documentation.

PayPal

The most recognized name in online payments. Standard card processing runs 2.99% + $0.49, while PayPal Checkout with buyer protection costs 3.49% + $0.49. In-person QR code payments are the most affordable at 2.29% + $0.09. PayPal's biggest advantage is brand trust — buyers are more likely to complete checkout when they see the PayPal button. Best for small businesses, freelancers, and merchants who want higher checkout conversion rates.

Wise

Purpose-built for international money transfers. Instead of marking up the exchange rate like traditional banks, Wise uses the real mid-market rate and charges a separate, transparent fee — typically 0.4–0.7% depending on the currency corridor. Not a card processor like Stripe or PayPal; Wise is for moving money between countries and currencies. Best for freelancers receiving overseas payments, businesses paying international suppliers, and anyone making regular cross-border transfers.
